Cala Santandria used to be a small fishing village but with the extensive development in recent years it is beginning to merge with the holiday resorts of Cala Blanca and Sa Caleta. Although there are good beaches, bars and restaurants in the Cala Santandria a 3km trip to Cuitadella is recommended for more variety.

Beaches on Holiday in Cala Santandria:

Cala Santandria is a sheltered rocky cove with beautiful white sands that gently shelve into the calm waters, making it very safe for younger children on holiday. Amongst many other watersports in Cala Santandria, diving is a popular choice here. The Cala Santandria beach can get busier at weekends with locals coming to chill out.

A larger variety of watersports than available at Cala Santandria including water skiing, canoeing and windsurfing can be found at the nearby Cala'n Bosch beach.

Activities in Cala Santandria generally centre around the beach, with snorkeling, sailing and pedalos for hire.

Another activity for visitors to Cala Santandria is walking. There are many inland paths and cliff top trails to follow in the Cala Santandria area and many whitewashed villages, ancient forts and castles to see along the way.

Cala Santandria offers a few restaurants, some of which offer some fantastic seafood dishes but you will be able to get a good range of international cuisine too. There are also several bars at Cala Santandria but no nightlife to speak of, however, plenty of lively bars and nightclubs can be found in nearby Cala Blanca and Cuidadella.

Again there is a handful of shops so you will be able to find holiday essentials and souvenirs in Cala Santandria but for anything else you will most likely need to venture further afield, perhaps to Cuidadella or even the capital, Mahon.

Nearby Attractions to Cala Santandria:

Attractions might be a bit thin on the ground in Cala Santandria but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.

There is a golf course in Son Bou and a go kart track in Sant Luis which are both easily accessible by public transport from Cala Santandria.

The landscape around Cala Santandria is quite flat so the area is perfect for cyclists, whether it be a leisurely cycle round the resorts or a more energetic cycle round the island.

For those who enjoy exploring the countryside but would prefer to do so on horseback, there are stables at Cala'n Bosch which is not far from Cala Santandria.

There are a couple of water parks close by to Cala Santandria, so if you are looking for a fun day out for all the family then this is the place to come.

If you fancy doing a spot of sightseeing then take a trip to Ciudadella or Mahon from Cala Santandria on the local bus. Ciudadella is full of interesting buildings which can be found while wandering through the many cobbled streets. There are many restaurants and shops to be found in both towns and lots of things to see and do so it is definitely worth visiting them both if you have the time to spare during your holiday in Cala Santandria.
