Isla Canela boasts fine sandy beaches, navigable canals and a great climate, a golf course and a marina. The blue flag at Isla Canela runs for approx 3km between the River Guadiana and the River Carreras. The Isla Canela beach is the last stretch of sand before crossing from Spanish Costa de la Luz to the Portuguese Algarve.

The beach at Isla Canela is backed by palm gardens and a pleasant promenade, with boardwalks across the dunes onto the sand itself. Courses are available in Isla Canela for windsurfing, kiteboarding and catamaran sailing during the summer holiday months.

For children on holiday in Isla Canela there is an activity centre with minigolf, mini-karts, trampolines etc, just behind the Isla Canela beach.

The Isla Canela Golf Course is open all year round and located approx 2km inland from the beach. Isla Canela course has 18 holes and also has a proshop, restaurant, 2 football fields and a bowling green.

Isla Canela is just across the river from Portugal, so you could easily visit some of the traditional towns and villages of the eastern Algarve. Whilst on holiday in Isla Canela you can reach Portugal from the town of Ayamonte, crossing the Guadiana River by boat from the harbour or by road across Guadiana International Bridge.

Out and about on Holiday in Isla Canela:
There are shops, bars and restaurants around the edge of the Isla Canela marina and there is also a commercial centre at the western end of Isla Canela with shops, terrace restaurants and beach bars.

For a further choice of terrace bars and restaurants you could wander out to the white-washed little riverside village of Punta del Moral, just past the Isla Canela Marina.

Nearby Attractions to Isla Canela:
For family fun on your holiday in Isla Canela the Aquopolis Cartaya Water Park has slides and pools for all ages and is approx
45 minutes drive. Whilst in Isla Canela you might also visit the Columbus sites on the river bank of Huelva city.

The charming town of El Rocio resembles a cowboy film set with it's wild west architecture and sand streets with post and rail fences. It is approx 75 minutes drive from Isla Canela and is next to the Donana National Park where you can take guided tours to see the birds and animals in their natural habitat.

Approx 90 minutes drive away from Isla Canela you will find the fascinating Museum of the Rio Tinto Mines, from which you can take a train journey through the colourful mining landscapes and along the Red River. A similar distance from Isla Canela is the enchanting and historic city of Seville.
